A Home Birth Story | Puyallup Birth Photographer

We’re going to start off 2018 the right way… with an amazing birth story.

So… it’s 2018 and I decided “hey… why not catch up on all that blogging for your clients that you didn’t do last year”! So here we go!

Brittnae texted me the night before she went into labor, just keeping me up to date with everything that was going on. She was having a homebirth (yes!!!) and her BP was starting to rise a bit… so with the close monitoring of her midwives, she added some good ole’ castor oil into her morning smoothie and let nature take it’s course from there.

I arrived at her home around 11am on October 23rd. When I arrived, the emotion of pure strength and love immediately filled the home. I was literally speechless (and for those who know me… that’s not very often). Brittnae was surrounded by her hubby (Waid), her adorable son (Mason), and many loved family members, and of course- her amazing midwife, Lisa at Maven Midwife (find her midwife HERE)

Brittnae labored like a champion. Waid was an amazing birth partner (aka Mr. Doula for the day!) – he was attentive, patient, loving, kind and gave some gooooooood hip flexes!

Around 12:30, with worship music playing in the background, Brittnae’s labor seemed to be going strong but her cervix was still holding on to 3-4cm. So she got in the water. Because water is calming.

And just like that… at 1:25pm, while Brittnae labored in her birthing tub… Bennett was born.

It was peaceful. Serene.

A little shocking since she went from 4cm to delivering a baby in less than an hour, but hey… our bodies do some amazing things, right?

I want to explain the song on this video, for reference, as it may make you a little more emotional when watching Bennett’s Birth Story.

When I met up with Brittnae and Waid for their consultation, she explained to me the importance of this song to her. And as she explained… not going to lie, I teared up. I hadn’t even HEARD THE SONG yet and I was tearing up. When Brittnae found out she was having another boy, she struggled with her feelings of wanting a girl so badly. And this song helped her find peace in God’s miracles. So enjoy the Birth Story of Bennett.

You Know Me- by Steffany Frizzell-Gretzinger, William Matthews (Bethel Music)

You have been and You will be
You have seen and You will see

You know when I rise and when I fall
When I come or go You see it all
You hung the stars and you move the sea
And still You know me

Nothing is hidden from Your sight
Wherever I go, You find me
You know every detail of my life
You are God and You don’t miss a thing

You memorize me
